There is no denying that there is a rapid growth in cafes and coffee shops around Malaysia and especially so in the Klang Valley. One part, in particular, is Taman Melawati, more trendily known as Melawati nowadays. What once used to be a sleepy, self-contained part of Ulu Klang, this township is now seeing a steady rise in development, which of course, is followed by the openings of cafes.

With a great mix of what it used to be and lush greenery, plus some modern finds, Melawati may be the next best pit stop for cafe enthusiasts. Still trying to figure out where to start? Here’s a round-up of cafes worth checking out the next time you’re in this suburb.

1. Duwa Bakestuff

Those who can’t seem to get enough of baked goods and pizza may want to pay a quick visit here. Quickly becoming a popular brunch spot, Duwa offers all the classic pastries you can think of, and their coffee is worth shouting about. Take your pick from fresh sourdough to decadent fruit danish, or have a slice or two of their pizza.

A tiny but mighty one in the Melawati’s cafe scene is none other than Halal Planet Coffee, and Melawatians love coming by to grab some freshly brewed joe. Their Iced Vanilla Latte Gula Melaka is a hit amongst cyclists that tend to drop by after their ride on weekends.

Wanting to fuel up on more than just a hot drink? Give their pastries a try. We like the XL Chocolate Roll, Mushroom Chicken Pie, Cinnamon Rolls in Lotus Bisco, and Snowy Giant Donut, to name a few.
