The theme parks are open! With interstate travel now allowed all over Malaysia, it’s the perfect time to plan for an outing with your family and friends. If you’re bored of merely hanging out at malls or at each other’s homes, you should definitely check out these theme parks. Theme parks are a popular tourist destination loved by many, regardless of age, after all.

But do note that only those who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 are allowed to visit theme parks. Children 17 years old and below do not need to be vaccinated as long as they are accompanied by a fully vaccinated adult.

1. Sunway Lagoon, Selangor

Who hasn’t heard of Sunway Lagoon, a popular water theme park in Sunway City, Subang Jaya? Sunway Lagoon, like any other water theme park, has a range of exhilarating water slides.

Sunway Lagoon’s most well-known attractions includes the Vuvuzela, Little Zimbabwe, Waterplexx 5D, Surf Beach, and many others. Following its reopening on 7 October, Sunway Lagoon debuted a new attraction called Camp Out! at Sunway Lagoon. This is definitely an experience not to be missed.

2. Legoland, Johor

Legoland in Iskandar Puteri reopened on 14 October with a new attraction, Planet Legoland, together with its existing attractions — its Theme Park, Water Park, Hotel, and Sea Life Malaysia. Visitors arriving at the new attraction were greeted by an almost 2-metre wide Lego globe built out of more than 200,000 bricks.

In conjunction with the reopening, the resort is offering some attractive deals that include complimentary stays at the Legoland Hotel and F&B vouchers with purchases of its park passes and hotel stay.

3. The TOP, Penang

A literal tower of entertainment, The TOP reopened its doors and welcome guests again on 8 October. The range of safety measures the indoor theme park has taken include that all staff are fully vaccinated, mandatory daily temperature checks to ensure only healthy staff are on duty, and limiting total admissions to only 50% capacity so that your family can have fun safely.

The TOP opened five attractions — The Rainbow Skywalk, Jurassic Research Center, The Top Boutique Aquarium, Penang State Galley, and Durian King of Fruits Gallery. They’re not welcoming guests to experience their new Family Fun Day Rewards package worth RM1,054 that includes Unlimited Entry to ALL Attractions and TAPAULAH Lunch for a family of two adults and two kids for a special price of only RM400.

however, do note that the park won’t be open everyday. The TOP will be open from 12pm to 8pm on Fridays to Sundays, and will be closed on Mondays to Thursdays (except during school holidays and public holidays) until further notice. The Rainbow Skywalk and The TOP View Restaurant opens on Fridays to Sundays from 12pm to 10pm.

4. Resorts World Genting, Pahang

Genting Highlands is welcoming all guests from across Malaysia to visit its Resorts World Genting (RWG) after interstate travel resumed last week. However, they are currently reopening in stages with facilities and offerings subject to revised operating hours, limited availability, or temporary closure.

Vision City has recently reopened, so you’re more than welcome to have fun at the arcade and hop on the kiddy rides. The park will operate daily from 2pm to 10pm while the Safari Jeep and Merry Go Round attractions will remain closed temporarily.

5. Berjaya Times Square Theme Park, KL

Malaysia’s largest indoor theme park, which opened its door on 8 October, will transport you into a world of fun, excitement, and laughter. The Berjaya Times Square Theme Park has brought thrilling rides and games for the whole family since 2003, offering visitors 133,000 square feet of fun. Visit one of two sections — Galaxy Station for the thrill seekers and Fantasy Garden for the young ones. Buckle up!
