Any parent will agree when we say that a vacation with kids is not truly a holiday because while you may be off work, you still have parental responsibilities, which is a job on its own. Despite that fact, parents (and kids) do need a break from life’s stresses and mundanity now and then. To that end, you can make a family vacation a little easier by choosing to stay at a kid-friendly hotel.

But what is considered kid-friendly? As an online magazine with plenty of parents in the team, we’ve collectively agreed that a hotel with a slide honestly seals the deal. Though not all hotels may have this amenity, you can look for others that are bound to keep your little ones occupied.

1. Shangri-La Golden Sands, Penang

Families with children will be familiar with this 4-star resort located along Batu Ferringhi, Penang. The child-friendly facilities will keep your kids entertained for hours while you squeeze in some relaxation time. Besides a kids club, little (or teenage) Golden Sands guests can have fun at the mini water park, Splash Zone.

Kids eat for free at the kids club, and there are not one but three water slides for them to have a splashing good time.

2. Legoland Hotel, Johor

Enter a world of adventure and Lego-themed rooms when you stay at this hotel with your family. With four themes to choose from – Pirate, Kingdom, Adventure, and NINJAGO – each will provide a unique experience.

Of course, a stay at Legoland Hotel wouldn’t be complete without spending a day (or two) at the Legoland theme park.

3. Club Med Cherating, Pahang

No listicle of kid-friendly resorts would be complete without including Club Med Cherating. This all-inclusive resort has been around for decades and is known for its all-inclusive packages. It’s impossible to be bored here as there are endless programmes to keep everyone entertained.

Kids from as young as four months can even join in at the baby club, with parental guidance, of course. If your family is up for doing something good for the planet, you can join in on their beach cleanup!

4. Shangri-La Rasa Sayang, Penang

Probably a personal favourite, Shangri-La Rasa Sayang is genuinely one of the best getaway locations for families. While it may not have slides, there are activities at the pool curated by the staff and management to ensure kids have the best time here.

Parents with bigger kids or nannies tending to little ones can take a quick and quiet escape to the adults-only pool or treat themselves to a relaxing time at their luxurious spa. A stay at the Rasa Sayang will also give you access to Golden Sands’ impressive mini waterpark.

6. Hard Rock Hotel, Penang

When it comes to kid-friendly hotels in Malaysia, there’s no doubt that Penang holds the top spot, and another one we are adding to the list is Hard Rock Hotel. Sitting along Batu Ferringhi, this resort needs no introduction.

With three clubs available for kids of all ages – Lil’ Rockers Infants Club for little rockstars under three years old, Roxity Kids Club for children between the ages of four to 12 years, and Tabu Teen Club, perfect for the bigger kids. Did we mention there are plenty of slides by one of their many pools?

8. Shangri-La, Kuala Lumpur

Shangri-La in Kuala Lumpur is our Editor’s personal favourite — and for good reason. They make staying with children such an easy process. Their Family Premier Suite is ideal for small families looking to unwind in the heart of a bustling city.

The complimentary weekend activities include Bingo Time, Arts & Crafts, House Tour, Movie Night, and the Maze Garden Treasure Hunt. There are even kid-themed amenities for families, which include kids’ bathrobes. How cute!
