When we have pets, they immediately become members of the family. They are the ultimate best friends. Many cat and dog owners even bring their furry companions on vacation! Sadly, not everyone has the capacity to adopt a furry friend of their own — perhaps a family member is allergic to Mittens or caring for Fido is too much of a commitment.

Enter the pet cafe (or animal cafe). The undeniable goal at these restaurants is to create environments that allow you to enjoy the presence and/or company of their four-legged hosts. Here’s a list of all the furbaby-hosted eateries where you and a newly-made furry buddy may enjoy a meal together.

1. Clawset Pet Cafe, Petaling Jaya

As you enter this canine heaven, you will be welcomed by yelping friendly dogs that will hurry over to greet you. Here, you’ll meet curious Poodles, fluffy Pomeranians, Pugs, and even a French Bulldog. There is a platform area where you can sit with the fur babies at ground level. Alternatively, you can simply nestle them onto your lap while sitting on the long benches.

If you’re looking to restock on pet food and other supplies, be sure to visit the connection pet accessory shop. Clawset Pet Cafe hosts workshops on pet health, pet care, and seasonal pet parties on occasion. They also provide a space to hold special events.

6. Meow Meow Cafe, Kuching

You’d think that a city named after a cat would have a plethora of pet cafes, but that’s not the case, which makes Meow Meow Kuching’s first cat cafe. Meow Meow Cafe first opened its doors in 2017, with two domestic shorthairs, one Bengal, and three Persians as residents.

Meow Meow Cafe stands out from other Malaysian cat restaurants thanks to its Bengal and Persian cats. Most pet cafes feature adoptable domestic cats rescued from shelters or the streets, so it’s refreshing to see a more exotic collection of feline friends.
