Visitors to LaLaport BBCC are in for a lovely surprise as teamLab — an international art collective from Japan — is bringing its newest light art exhibit to Malaysia!
Open to public from tomorrow onwards, LaLaport BBCC in Kuala Lumpur is now home to the ‘teamLab: Resonating Microcosms’ light art installation. We got to see it for ourselves, and trust when we say that it’s out of this world.
Equal parts immersive and interactive, the outdoor exhibit is housed at the mall’s Central Rooftop Garden on Level 4, and will be open to the public until 30 November 2022. A family-friendly art experience, visitors are invited to interact with the ovoids and their surroundings through touch, observation, and listening. The best part? It’s totally free.
The exhibition will feature two interactive works from teamLab: ‘The Resonating Microcosms-Liquified Light Color, Sunrise and Sunset’ and ‘Resonating Trees’.
‘The Resonating Microcosms-Liquified Light Color, Sunrise and Sunset’ is an art space that varies when the natural environment and the presence of humans alter. It interactively changes as a result of the wind, rain, and movement of the people in the area, incorporating both the environment and the audience into the piece. The ovoids mirror the world around them when the sun is shining and can transform into a total of 57 newly specified Liquified Light Colours.
This ovoid exhibit is surrounded by coloured trees that are part of the installation called ‘Resonating Trees’. When people are nearby, these trees will light up with a variety of colours. It will also produce sound as you saunter past.
If you’re intrigued, we recommend catching this spectacular light show any time after sunset, for this is when it truly shines — literally and figuratively.
This is teamLab’s second Malaysian exhibition. They first debuted an interactive digital game for kids called MoonLab Sketch Aquarium at Aquaria KLCC in 2014.
