My Achilles’ heel? A piping hot bowl of noodles on a rainy morning. It’s simply irresistible and incredibly comforting. While there are many stores out there selling pork noodles, only a handful hits the spot just right for me every time.

Different cooks will have their own ways of making the pork broth too, and the verdict really comes down to our personal tastes. Not all of these spots keep me going back, but the crowds disagree with me, so I’ll share them with you anyway. Perhaps you could try them out and decide for yourself!

1. PORKEEs Noodle House, Sentul & Pandan Indah

I may be biased, but the broth at PORKEEs is top-notch. It’s boiled for 10 hours using quality organic pork bones, making the broth sweet and delicious. Portions here are also generous, and for the meat toppings, you can choose between minced pork, sliced pork, pork belly, pork balls and more.

They also have keto-friendly meals, but I’m a carb-lover, so rice noodles for me, please. Their rice noodles are good, whether served in soup or a signature dry sauce. The dry noodles are coated in a fragrant dark sauce that pairs so well with the pork broth. You’ll feel at ease dining here, knowing that all their ingredients are sourced fresh!

2. Sam Kan Chong, Jinjang

If you frequent hawker stalls, you’ve probably had a bowl of these pork ball noodles somewhere. Well, if you’re wondering, this is the original store that created the dish! The original location was in three shoplots near Jalan Silang, Kuala Lumpur, where the name Sam Kan Chong (三间庄) came from. Sam Kan Chong is roughly translated as ‘three business lots’ in Cantonese.

Strangely, the pork balls served in their soups resemble three shoplots. I often wonder if that’s an homage to its origin. Since 1954, the recipe has been the same – noodles served with their signature pork balls, well-seasoned minced meat and pork sausage. The current store is run by the third generation and supplies pork balls to stalls across the Klang Valley!

3. Fei Fei Sam Kan Chong @ Kedai Kopi Lucky Seng, Petaling Jaya

Here’s one of the many sam kan chong noodle stalls! I used to frequent this stall in Petaling Jaya (PJ), and the broth has always been a source of warmth for my soul. They use pork bones and Sarawak white peppercorns in their broth, giving the soup its milky white look and perfect peppery taste.

They’ve recently rebranded early in the year, and I have yet to try their noodles again. Hopefully, it’s still as good as I remember!

4. Peter’s Pork Noodle, Brickfields

Peter’s is a popular pork noodle stall in Brickfields, Kuala Lumpur (KL), with regular customers coming back for more. They only have two options on the menu, ‘with egg’ or ‘without egg’.

Every bowl comes with pork balls, pork slices and innards, so if you’re not a fan of innards, do let them know when you make your order! It’s a pretty decent bowl of noodles, perfect if you’re craving something hearty when strolling in the city.

5. Imbi Pork Ball Noodles since 1969 @ Restoran Win Heng Seng, Imbi

Chances are you’ve tried this stall’s sam kan chong noodles before. They’re a popular breakfast or lunch choice for KL-lites. Do keep in mind that the price for a bowl of noodles here is steeper than most places, probably due to its popularity and city centre location.

Reviews on taste are mixed, but they’re still going strong, nevertheless. Try it for yourself, and let us know what you think!

6. Restaurant Old Fatt Kee, Puchong; Omega Pork Noodle, multiple locations

Starting out as a hawker stall in Restoran Puchong Fatt Kee, this pork noodle restaurant now honours its humble origins with the name Old Fatt Kee. They have also since branched out and started Omega Pork Noodle, with a few outlets across the Klang Valley.

They’re known for using OMEGA-3 pork in their dishes, generous portions and flavourful soup. Which is everything you can ask for in a wholesome bowl of pork noodles!
