For many KL-ites, when it concerns travelling domestically and somewhere that isn’t too far from the city centre, Sekinchan and Kuala Selangor seem to be popular choices lately. And why not? There are plenty of things to do and see, and there have also been rapid developments in tourist attractions.

Located approximately half an hour from each other, Sekinchan and Kuala Selangor also boast some unique stays that are perfect for staycations. So, it doesn’t really matter if you’re exploring for the weekend or planning on a week-long break from the city in any of these towns — these places on our list can be your home away from home.

1. My Desa Stay (Komuniti Rumah Kayu)

We start our list with something more on the traditional side. MyDesaStay, which the locals affectionately know as Komunity Rumah Kayu. This vacation rental is suitable for families and groups of travellers searching for a kampung stay with amenities suited for a trip away from home.

Bookworms rejoice; we have a literary-themed hostel located only 7km away from Sky Mirror. At Route Five, there are 10 unique dorm-style rooms to choose from, and there’s even a tearoom and co-working space — perfect for singletons, groups of friends, and those that seek adventure. Each dorm room has air conditioning, a fridge, a minibar, a coffee machine, and a hair dryer; although, bathrooms are shared here.

One of the more well-known stays in Sekinchan is none other than Padi Box. A cosy homestay made of freight containers, this relaxing destination has made its rounds on social media, and many Malaysians love the surrounding paddy fields too! Let us say that this place’s evening view is pretty scenic!

Guests can choose options from two to six pax per room, which are accompanied by a calming view of nearby paddy fields. There are also tour packages available for you to explore, which include a visit to Sky Mirror, attending soap-making classes, watching fireflies at night, and cycling tours.

7. Kuala Selangor Cabin Camp (KSCC)

This hidden gem, known as Kuala Selangor Cabin Camp (KSCC), offers unique accommodations, including tube stays, triangle houses, bus homes, villas, and even camping tents.
