As Malaysians, there is no stopping us when we smell food on the street. Especially if you have foodie friends, you know a food detour is coming. Dining on the road offers so much variety, and there’s no denying Malaysians live for the variety. If possible, we’ll try everything on the menu!
Knowing our love for dining curbside, we’ve compiled a list of food trucks and stands that are a must-try for anyone who loves food hunting. And the more you hunt, you’re likely to end up with personal favourite food trucks. Here’s an extra tip: hire them for private events so you can have your favourite street food at your birthday party! Wouldn’t that be super cool?
Oh, and don’t forget to follow these businesses on social media for the latest updates on their whereabouts. Let’s get into it because we know you’re already drooling.
1. The Gorpis
Let’s start this list with none other than one of our Malaysian street food staples, pisang goreng (banana fritters)! It’s not just any ol’ pisang goreng, though — The Gorpis’ fried bananas are topped with grated cheese. And that’s not all, there are other toppings like their Gorpis Special Sauce that is sweet and spicy, Cheese Oreo, Cheese Butterscotch, Cheese Chocolate, and many more.

This is the pinnacle of classy curbside dining, and you simply cannot miss it! Stiq.’s steaks are prepared via the Sous Vide method, using precise temperature control when cooking, resulting in tender and juicy meat. Although made this way, their steak prices won’t burn a hole in your pocket. All the more reason to give Stiq. a try!

Takoyaki with scrambled egg… wait, what? The Cheezible Egg Takoyaki is topped with scrambled egg, cheese, and your usual suspects of mayonnaise, bonito flakes, and seaweed. 6. The Mac’s
Sometimes, when cravings hit, cream and cheese do the best job! Imagine the classic macaroni – rich with stringy cheese and perfect for lazy days. If you’d like an extra crunchy bite, try their Mac Me Cheese You — classic mac and cheese topped with nachos.
Does all this sound too basic for you? Not to worry, they have flavours like Bolonara (bolognese + carbonara) and White Fredo (alfredo and carbonara) that are crafted for the ultimate cheesy-pasta satisfaction.
