It’s no secret that Malaysians tend to revolve their trips around food when travelling. Questions like, “What’s good to eat there?” or “Where shall we eat once we arrive?” come to mind. And if you’re heading to Langkawi, we’re saving you the mental stress of where to eat with a speedy recommendation of the island’s best grub spots.
Whether you want something more on the omakase side or just a no-frills dining spot, Langkawi has it all.
1. The Cliff Restaurant & Bar
Let’s start the list strong with The Cliff Restaurant & Bar. Perched on a cliff overlooking the Andaman Sea, it offers views that will take your breath away (cue: Berlin) and a menu brimming with authentic Malay flavours and fresh seafood.
Anything from the “Bakar-Bakar” section of the menu is worth a try, especially seafood choices like Siakap Bakar, which is marinated in a medley of Asian spices and served with spicy percik sauce, sambal, and some acar. Doesn’t that sound just heavenly? If you’re catching sunsets, why not pair it with their decadent cocktails selection?

2. Yellow Beach Cafe
Yellow Beach Cafe is the epitome of laid-back island dining and is a treat no matter when you decide to go. Located right on Pantai Cenang, this chill and colourful cafe is popular among locals and tourists–the beanbags and hammocks sure do level up its already relaxed vibes. The menu is a delightful mix of Western and local dishes, perfect for a casual lunch or dinner by the beach.
Pretty much everything on the menu will satisfy, but if we had to pick, we’d order their steak, pizza, and milkshake options! For something to share, ask for the seafood platter—a generous selection of grilled prawns, squid, and fish served with garlic butter, fries, and a fresh garden salad.

The Fat Frog prides itself on using fresh, local ingredients, with plenty of vegetarian and vegan options; it’s inclusive in terms of menu offerings.
The Pumpkin & Feta Salad, a refreshing combination of roasted pumpkin, feta cheese, and mixed greens drizzled with a tangy balsamic glaze, is a must-order. For something carb-ilicious, try the Penne Arrabiata or any of their pizza selections.

For an authentic taste of Malaysian cuisine, and we are talking about nasi dagang in particular, head over to Nasi Dagang Pak Malau. This no-frills, humble eatery offers a picturesque view of paddy fields and mountains while enjoying their local flavours.
While we’d love to highlight one dish, everything here is pretty good, especially the ikan tongkol and gulai daging—quite possibly the most flavourful variety of sauce you can find on the island.

Not in the mood for something seafood-y? Try their Chicken Chop or Beef Burger. The relaxed, no-frills setting adds to the charm, making it a favourite among locals and tourists.

7. Pizza Hills
Now, we saved the best for last. Meet Pizza Hills–a pizza omakase experience in the middle of Langkawi’s nowhere. We kid you not—it’s quite a trek to get here, and reservations are required. Offering mouth-watering Napoli-style pizza, this eatery was founded by Chef U’Ren, who decides what you’ll be having when dining at the restaurant.
We did say omakase, didn’t we? Their most famous is definitely the Quattro Formaggi––we never knew a generous drizzle of honey would truly make a pizza dish. It’s an experience that must be had when on the island.
