Tanjong Jara Resort has opened bookings for its 2026 Sucimurni Retreat, a luxury Pilates and wellness retreat in Terengganu scheduled for 16–18 October. Led by Kuala Lumpur–based Pilates instructor and health coach Joyce Shih, the three-day programme combines technical movement practice with the traditional Malay philosophy of “Sucimurni” — the pursuit of purity, health, and harmony.

Set along Terengganu’s coastline in a resort inspired by a 17th-century Malay palace, the retreat offers an immersive escape centred on mindful movement, holistic wellbeing, and local culture. The weekend caters to all fitness levels, moving from restorative sunset sessions to high-intensity core work, balanced with community-led cultural experiences.

Guided Movement and Holistic Health

From restorative sunset Pilates in the Anjung Garden to high-intensity core work, the programme is designed to build resilience and mental clarity.

The retreat is led by Joyce Shih, a STOTT-certified Pilates instructor known for her intuitive approach that balances physical strength with mental clarity. Drawing from her experience at her private studio and her training as an Integrative Nutrition Health Coach, Joyce’s sessions encourage a deeper mind-body connection and resilient vitality.

While most sessions are suitable for all levels, the final day introduces advanced sequencing to help participants build long-term strength.

The Cultural Connection

The retreat experience extends to every sense, from authentic Malay flavours like beef rendang at Di Atas Sungei to the restorative atmosphere of the award-winning Spa Village.

The retreat also extends beyond the exercise mat. Participants will get to connect with Terengganu’s local community through the Kampung Sucimurni Lifestyle experience on Saturday evening, featuring traditional crafts and authentic local delicacies. Dining is a core part of the journey, with meals served at Di Atas Sungei, a restaurant set above a river flowing into the South China Sea.
