AirAsia continues to soar to new heights in 2025 with another exciting expansion of its network, adding three new destinations that promise unforgettable cultural experiences and greater connectivity across Southeast Asia and beyond. Here are the latest routes that come with unbeatable fares and travel convenience.

Direct from Kuala Lumpur to Palembang and Semarang

AirAsia Malaysia (flight code AK) has launched two new direct flights from Kuala Lumpur to Palembang and Semarang, bringing its total weekly flights between Malaysia and Indonesia to 188. With these additions, AirAsia now connects to 15 destinations across Indonesia, including Jakarta, Bali, Medan, Yogyakarta, Banda Aceh, Makassar, Labuan Bajo, Lombok, and more.

These new flights also mark a milestone moment as AirAsia becomes the first international airline to return to both Palembang and Semarang, following the reopening of Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin II Airport and Jenderal Ahmad Yani Airport for international services. To celebrate, AirAsia is offering promotional fares from Kuala Lumpur to Palembang starting at just RM159 one-way, and from Palembang to Kuala Lumpur from IDR499,000 (approximately RM130). For Semarang, one-way fares start at RM199, while the return from Semarang is available from IDR799,000 (approximately RM208).

A historic city along the Musi River, Palembang is famed for its pempek (fish cake delicacy), the Ampera Bridge, and Srivijaya-era ruins that date back to one of Southeast Asia’s earliest maritime empires.

AirAsia X launches flights to Tashkent, Uzbekistan

AirAsia X (AAX) is also making headlines with the announcement of a brand-new route to Tashkent, the vibrant capital of Uzbekistan, beginning 15 October 2025 with flights three times a week. To mark the launch, AAX is offering an introductory fare from just RM99 all-in one-way (economy) for bookings made between 23 and 29 June 2025, for travel between 15 October 2025 and 14 September 2026. Subsequent fares will start from RM899. This route also supports Fly-Thru connections, allowing travellers from ASEAN and Australia to connect via Kuala Lumpur to Tashkent with ease.
