The Malaysian Island of Langkawi is a magnificent archipelago in the Andaman Sea and one of Malaysia’s foremost island destinations. Known for its pristine beaches, lush rainforests, and diverse wildlife, Langkawi is a nature lover’s paradise. If you’re planning a trip to Langkawi and want to do something truly unique, you can look forward to the opening of Dream Forest Langkawi on 1 May 2023.

Dream Forest Langkawi is a Malaysia’s first immersive multi-sensory night attraction that will use projection mapping, state-of-the-art lighting, and hypnotic soundscapes to bring Langkawi myths and legends to life along a leisurely 1.2-kilometre route in a prehistoric forest that’s over 100 million years old.

Immersive realms

The aim is to inspire Malaysians, especially children, to learn about our local legends by projecting folklore characters. Upon entering, the woods are transformed into a natural theatre setting of 15.8 acres (6.4 hectares) and visitors will be greeted by Eli, Coco, and Terra — three lovable helicopter seeds. Sang Gedembai, Guardian of the Dream Forest, will also be there to greet guests.

As tourists delve into the legends of Tasik Dayang Bunting, Merong Mahawangsa, and the Giants of Langkawi, the forest comes to life with the enchantment of light and sound.

Nestled at the base of the towering Gunung Raya, Dream Forest is a veritable biodiversity hotspot. The Lubuk Semilang forest is home to unusual creatures like flying lemurs, dusky leaf monkeys, the Sumatran toad, as well as numerous kinds of hornbills, which visitors can see when taking part in forest bathing during daytime nature excursions.

Dream Forest is the brainchild of creative powerhouse Puan Sri Tiara Jacquelina and is two decades in the making. It’s perfect for drawing in tourists of all ages, from families on vacation to school groups, businesses, event planners, and anyone simply interested in the arts and culture.
