It’s cherry blossom season in Japan right now. Each spring, the country transforms into a canvas painted with delicate baby pink and white hues, captivating hearts and minds alike. Thanks to the Japan National Tourism Organisation Kuala Lumpur (JNTO KL), this year’s celebration promises an immersive experience and a chance for travellers to go on their own Japanese adventure.
In support of Mitsui Shopping Park LaLaport’s Sakura Festival, JNTO KL is offering an opportunity for travellers to deeply immerse in this cultural event. The festival, which runs from 20 April to 19 May 2024, will feature a variety of events designed to evoke the springtime celebration that introduces Japanese culture to Malaysia.

Experience the magic of Japan’s cherry blossoms
Every spring, cherry blossoms in Aomori Prefecture transform Hirosaki into a dreamy fantasy, enveloping the city in pastel hues. The famous Hirosaki Castle is surrounded by approximately 2,600 cherry trees, which attracts tourists from all over the world during the Hirosaki Cherry Blossom Festival. Walking around the castle moat or having hanami (flower watching) picnics beneath the gorgeous pink blossoms is a peaceful way to unwind, and the nighttime lights add to the magical ambience, making memories that will last a lifetime for everyone who visits.
Travellers from all over Japan and beyond also flock to Goryokaku Park in Hakodate, Hokkaido, to see the breathtaking cherry blossom show. More than 1,600 cherry trees and the park’s famous star-shaped plan combine to produce a lovely sight of pink and white blossoms. Visitors can rent rowboats or take leisurely strolls along the fort’s moat for a different perspective from the water. Goryokaku is an alluring location for hanami and scenic appreciation because of the nighttime illuminations, further accentuating the beauty.
