Get Paid To Travel & Post On Instagram. No, Really!

There doesn’t seem to be a shortage of dream job listings these days. But for those who’ve been told to keep away from deals that are too good to be true, you might want to throw your hat in for this. Royal Caribbean UK and Ireland is offering a dream job to anyone who loves to travel and post content on Instagram.

Oh, yes. The cruise company is looking to hire a ‘Shore Explorer’ willing to travel and test far-flung destinations and experiences.

Hotel stays, transfers, flights, meals, and daily expenses will be allotted on top of a cheque for £6,000 (approximately USD7,818) upon completion of the three-week trip.

Those on the sceptical side are probably wondering what the catch is. Well, it seems there’s none. The only rules are that those applying for the role must be 21 or over, hold a valid passport, and be able to travel this year. The successful applicant will also have to document their entire journey on Instagram, so proficiency in that particular social media is likely compulsory.

According to the Royal Caribbean’s job listing page, the cruise company is looking to find the ultimate “experience hunter” to help inspire their Shore Excursion programme. The selected Shore Explorer will also be the first to set foot on board Royal Caribbean’s new private island in the Caribbean, which is due to open in May of this year.

Entries will be judged by Ben Bouldin, managing director of Royal Caribbean International UK and Ireland, James McVey, writer and guitarist from the band The Vamps, travel writer Nadia El Ferdaoussi, and Russ Francis, the line’s ‘Instagrammer in Chief’, who took on a long-term role at Royal Caribbean following a similar process and subsequent three-week placement in 2018.

Bouldin told Telegraph UK that Instagram is no longer just a content platform, “It’s an area of inspiration and influence, especially for the next generation of travellers. This is a once in a lifetime role.”

Judging by the itinerary that includes thrill-seeking activities such as hiking through Alaska’s glaciers, white-water rafting in the Norwegian Fjords, and riding the world’s longest zip-line in Dubai, we’re inclined to agree.

Now, if you’re wondering how to apply for this dream listing, simply post your best travel story, video, or image on Instagram via Instagram stories, IGTV, or an Instagram post tagging @RoyalCaribbeanUK and #ShoreExplorer before 1 March, 2019.
