The most beautiful time of the year is upon us yet again. And while some of us had decked our halls in a Christmas extravaganza before the month even began, the list of things to get done before the big day only gets longer. There’s shopping to do, presents to wrap, cards to send out, and parties to attend (or host).
It’s all exciting, but we find that the Christmas season is only made more magical when we remember to slow it down for the little ones in our lives, and remind them that there is more to Christmas than just tinsel and sparkle.
Listed are a few ideas on celebrating the festive month with them.
1. Hit up a local Christmas bazaar
Get in the Yuletide spirit as you visit a Christmas bazaar for gifting ideas, fundraising purchases, and delicious bakes on every corner in wonderfully decorated booths. It is also a great way to get to know and support some local businesses, and perhaps find yourself some new favourite stores that you could come back to each year.

2. Go on a Christmas mall hop
One of the best things about the Christmas season is getting to see the shopping malls beautifully decorated with trees, lights, and themed props. And it’s such a joy watching the little ones’ faces just light up with glee when they get to see it too.

Mystical Christmas at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur

A magical evening that’ll have you and your kids singing “Fa la la la la” all the way home! Get your tickets here!

4. Make a wish come true with Toys For Tots at JW Marriott
Spend some time with your kids by participating in JW Marriott’s Annual Toys For Tots Campaign. The hotel lobby is a tree filled with over a hundred children’s Christmas wishes that you can fulfil. What better way to celebrate Christmas than by making another child’s dream come true? Head to the lobby’s front desk for further information on how you and your kids can participate.
5. Go on a Christmas getaway at One & Only Desaru Coast in Johor
Take a holiday with the children at the One & Only Desaru Coast. They have an event lineup that is enjoyable for the kids and relaxing for the adults. Here, you can watch the tree lighting ceremony with the family and have an elf spend the evening telling stories to your children in the library. Let the kids channel their inner Indiana Jones as they go on a Festive Treasure Hunt and end the evening by the bonfire as you toast marshmallows over the fire and listen to the calming sounds of the sea. And that is just the shortlist!
It’s easy to get caught up in the “ta-da” factor of it all when it comes to the holidays. If children learn by example, let us be the ones to teach them about the importance of kindness, the power of generosity, and the wonder of a very merry Christmas.
