Having just opened its doors a mere two months ago, Parkroyal Collection Kuala Lumpur is one of the hottest hotel openings in Bukit Bintang — but it’s the food we’re most excited for. The property’s main eatery, Thyme is a contemporary all-day dining restaurant that aims to provide customers with an unforgettable meal.

How, you ask? Well, they’ve been known to put on quite the show.

Thyme invites diners to witness the culinary action as it happens as its outstanding chefs cook up a storm at any of the seven live stations in an upscale food market environment. Ambient and aesthetically pleasing with its warm wood tones and minimalist finish, we find that meandering through each station is a breeze — and we love the interaction!

Food, glorious food

Theatrics aside, food-wise, we are spoilt for choice during our visit. Thyme prides itself on serving a variety of local and western delights. Diners can sample regional specialities like Nyonya curry laksa, butter chicken masala, and Hainanese chicken rice, as well as Western favourites like steak, fish and chips, and chocolate truffle simple. Although our personal favourite station had to be the fresh seafood stop — it was oysters galore topped with a heaping serving of bechamel and cheese.

For those who have dietary restrictions or are just more health-conscious, Thyme will cater to your palate and needs with the likes of an organic quinoa salad, acai bowls, and homemade bircher muesli.

If you need to know who to thank, direct your gratitude towards the team of skilled chefs led by Executive Chef Khalil Zakhem and Pastry Chef Mohamed Nazeri — the two brains behind this ambitious culinary project.

Thyme can accommodate any size party, from business lunches to wedding receptions, and it has chic, separate dining rooms for those who prefer a more private atmosphere.

So, what’s the damage?
