After seven years away, Urbanscapes returns to Kuala Lumpur with Made Different, a programme celebrating the artists, musicians, makers, and communities shaping the city’s creative scene. Running from 31 October to 15 November 2026, this edition also marks the start of the build-up to the platform’s 25th anniversary in 2027.

Art in unexpected places, creatives coming together

At TRX, Studio Soüfflé’s Udara Fest (30 October–15 November) takes art beyond gallery walls, with large-scale inflatables lining a walking route through the financial district.

The opening weekend offers a different kind of creative gathering. CRE.ATE 2026 (30 October–1 November) at Sky Society KL brings content creators and independent businesses together for talks, practical workshops, and a marketplace. Speakers include Shalma Ainaa, Kim May Chee, and Dee Alimin, who will share their experiences of building creative careers and businesses.

Over at Bangunan Sultan Abdul Samad, Past Forward (31 October–1 November) pairs music, workshops, and conversations with the Shell Café Barista Cup. Coffee lovers can also look out for Shell Café’s mobile truck serving handcrafted coffee and pastries across three venues, as well as a limited tumbler collection featuring four designs by Malaysian artists Dania Mah (thatDania) and Adnin (Graphnin).

Revisiting KL’s creative past

For a nostalgic look at the city, Long Time No See returns to the late 2000s at APW Bangsar on 7 November. Expect music by Mimosa, a Palate Palette pop-up, and Back in Service food collaborations bringing familiar faces from KL’s dining scene together again.

The same venue also hosts Night Shift, an exhibition curated by Roshan Menon and Callen Tham that looks further back to the city’s nightlife between 1997 and 2003. Through archival flyers, posters, photographs, and interviews, it traces how clubs became gathering places for music, design, and community — documenting a chapter of KL’s cultural history that is often overlooked. The exhibition runs from 7 to 14 November, according to the published programme.

Sunny Days brings the festival to a close

Urbanscapes wraps up at TRX with Sunny Days (14–15 November), a block party spotlighting emerging voices across music, fashion, food, design and street culture. Off The Track will curate the Sunny Stage.

Beyond the live programme, Spritzer Story Sessions will document the people behind Urbanscapes’ experiences. The festival’s Official Hydration Partner will also support artists, crew, and vendors with Hydration Houses at Bangunan Sultan Abdul Samad and TRX.

Urbanscapes 2026 features a series of free experiences, although registration requirements may vary by event. For programme details and registration information, follow Urbanscapes on Instagram, Facebook, or TikTok.
