Girlfriends – we just cannot live without them. They are there for us to celebrate our wins in life and our support system when the going gets tough. Through it all, our girlfriends are always there for us, and I’m lucky to say I’ve been blessed with a handful of them.
After being apart for almost three years due to the pandemic, I was reunited with some of my best girlfriends earlier in the month. What better way to celebrate than having a girls’ day out? So we did just that. A full day dedicated to our friendship and making up for lost time.
There is nothing quite like hanging out with your best group of friends, and if you’ve found yourself reading this article, then you must be thinking of doing the same. So, here’s an AM to PM guide with your girl squad this weekend. We promise there won’t be a lot of driving!
8:30am – Breakfast and coffee run at VCR
Start your day off right by fuelling yourselves at VCR. A popular cafe notorious for its delicious eats and artisan coffee, your girlfriends will thank you if they didn’t already know of this place. Their VCR Big Breakfast — which includes baked tomatoes, housemaid sausages, and lamb sauce — is a must-order. The portion is pretty generous, so if you’re not a big eater, I suggest sharing this with your girlfriends.
If you want something lighter, give their Superbowl a try – the dehydrated kale mixed with hummus and other delicious ingredients will prepare you for the day ahead. Before leaving, grab a couple of their iced lattes to go – oat milk recommended.

10am – Manicure and pedicure at Boudoir by Soong Ai Ling
It wouldn’t be a girls’ day without a luxurious pampering session of manicure and pedicure treatments. If you’ve never been, then be sure to book yourself and the girls in at Boudoir by Soong Ai Ling – the plush dark green chairs and ottomans will set your group in the mood for self-care.
You can request for a glass or bottle of wine if you’d like (it’s happy hour somewhere in the world), but it’s not included in your mani and pedi charges. Splurge if you want, because it’s a girls’ day out, after all. Advance booking is required if you are coming in groups!

1pm – Lunch at Marmalade
After an arduous time (just kidding!) getting your nails did with your gals, go down a couple of levels, and grab yourselves a table at Marmalade. Known for its healthy eats, this restaurant is a spacious spot to enjoy a meal with loved ones. They have killer lighting, too, if you want to squeeze a group photo in. Everyone, say cheese!
I personally love just about everything on the menu. Still, these dishes are highly recommended and worth ordering: Nasi Ulam Ayam Percik, Buttermilk Chicken, and their Sounds of Havana salad. Let’s not forget their Quinoa Nasi Lemak, served with a side of memorable sambal tumis!

3pm – Shopping around Telawi
Once you’re done indulging in good food, clock in some steps through retail therapy with your gal pals. The Jalan Telawi area is a hub for those who love to shop in a more community-like area. There are plenty of fashion boutiques and stores worth checking out in this neighbourhood mall and its surrounding areas like Tribeca, Zara, Ms Reed, and so on.
If you’re searching for athleisure staples, head to Lululemon on Jalan Telawi 3. Next and Sergeant Major in Bangsar Village 1 have some cute kids’ apparel. If you’re looking for beautiful stationery, visit Cziplee – a family-run business that offers an array of unique tools for those who love all things arts and crafts and more!
5pm – Happy hour at Bait
Take a break from all that shopping and treat yourself and the squad to refreshing drinks at Bait. A hangout spot for the coolest of the cool, Bait offers some of the freshest oysters in town. If you’re like me and a fan of oyster shooters (oyster paired with a shot of Bloody Mary cocktail), then you’re in luck, because theirs is the best in town! They have some pretty good food, too, so while you’re there, why not have dinner with your drinks!

8pm – Movie at Aurum Theatre in The Gardens Mall
Okay, so this may not be in the Telawi hub, BUT it’s only a short drive away, so either jump in your car or take a Grab. The newly refurbished Aurum Theatre is a luxurious cinematic experience at its finest.
Ticket prices are a bit steep here, but hey, a girls’ day out is worth the splurge, and it’s no ordinary movie outing. Choose from three luxe options: Getha Lux Suites, Comfort Cabin, and Escape Studio. There’s a butler service and in-hall dining for all three options, so don’t hold back on the popcorn and drinks! In can you’re wondering, yes, you can imbibe here too. Oh, and the truffle pasta is delish!
