Located in the heart of TTDI, this popular spot might surprise some by revealing that its first branch was actually in Tanjung Bungah, Penang, which has since moved to Straits Quay.
The restaurant is well-known for its beer-battered fish, which will entice you as you browse their menu. But don’t worry, my fellow Muslims! They also offer soda-battered or breaded fish options so you won’t miss out on the experience.

2. Cor Blimey, Kuala Lumpur & Selangor
Wow! Just look at the variety of batter flavours available. There’s plain, lemon herb, onion garlic, chilli lemon, and western curry. You’ll be enjoying fish and chips like never before at this place.
They take pride in serving Malaysia’s best fish and chips, especially since their founder, Adam, came from Hampshire, where authentic fish and chips are a staple. Still unsure? You’ll have to try them for yourself!

3. Fish & Co., Kuala Lumpur & Selangor
This may not be the most low-key spot, but we couldn’t resist including it on our list. Make sure to try their Bombay Fish and Chips, and don’t miss out on their classic Best Fish and Chips—it’s absolutely delicious!
They ensure their fish is not overly battered, allowing for the perfect balance of tenderness and crispiness in every bite. Trust us when we say that one bite and you’ll be hooked!

4. Crispy Chippy, Kuala Lumpur & Selangor
Planning a lunch with your picky, potentially seafood-hating friend here? Worry not. Crispy Chippy has plenty of other selections beyond seafood, which include submarine cheesesteaks and footlong sausages.
Their speciality also extends into the dessert department with ice cream-topped charcoal waffles that will take you on a gustatory and gastronomic journey while enjoying your meal here.

5. Oh! Fish & Chips, Kuala Lumpur
Surprising to many, this locally-owned food truck has been receiving glowing reviews for serving some of the best budget-friendly fish and chips that do not skimp on portion size. Based in Taman Melawati, you can often find a long queue at their roadside spot. For a food truck, they really capitalise on their novelty while offering high-quality fish and chips made with premium imported King Dory fish and fresh Russet potatoes. They have also recently added a new item to their menu, allowing customers to choose Perch if King Dory isn’t quite to their taste.

6. Secret Recipe, all across Malaysia
A major local cafe chain, Secret Recipe consistently maintains a strong bond with Malaysians through its premium cakes and dishes, both local and Western-infused. One of their more underrated menu items, though, is what qualifies them for this list: the Caribbean-style Fish Filet.
A slightly unique take on the usual fish ‘n chips, the tangy and buttery Carribean-style sauce dripping down their fish fillet is the absolute highlight of this dish. Complemented with golden potato wedges and lemon plum dressing-drizzled garden salad, the dish is oh-so heavenly, equal parts refreshing and lulling. They also serve regular fish’ n chips if you want the classic British-style version.
