Attention all thrill-seekers and Pokémon fans! Singapore Cable Car is celebrating its 50th anniversary in style, and it all starts with a Pokémon experience that will surely get your heart racing.

For those who may not know, Singapore Cable Car is an iconic attraction that has whisked visitors high above the city’s stunning skyline since 1974. It’s also a fantastic way to take in panoramic views of Singapore’s most famous landmarks, including Sentosa Island, Mount Faber, and Harbourfront.

What to expect

Singapore Cable Car is taking things up a notch this year with its special Pokémon-themed cabins. The 67 Poké Ball cabins soaring 100 metres above sea level will be wrapped in recognisable red and white colours. The five various interior designs, each inspired by first-generation Pokémon like Pikachu and Eevee as well as Sprigatito, Fuecoco, and Quaxly from the most recent Pokémon video games, are a surprise inside each cabin, much like the motivation behind their outer appearance.

Each ride on the Singapore Cable Car will be different for families and Pokémon enthusiasts, thanks to the freshly-installed gorgeous, multicoloured lights at Mount Faber Station, Harbourfront Station, and Sentosa Station. Visitors to Mount Faber Peak, a verdant hilltop resort, can also take pictures with Pokémon like Pikachu, Pichu, Snorlax, and Psyduck at several photo points, including restored cable car cabins, to commemorate their time there.

But that’s not all. Guests can also win an icy treat of strawberry- or mango-flavoured ice cream to beat the heat by participating in a social media contest. To participate, tourists need only take a selfie with at least two of the Pokémon shown on the Singapore Cable Car, share it to Instagram or Facebook with the hashtag #SGCableCar50 and tag @MountFaberLeisure.

Visitors can get free ice cream at either the Singapore Cable Car Gift Shop at Mount Faber Peak or the Singapore Cable Car Gift Shop at Imbiah Lookout, while supplies last.

Ticket price

For a round-trip ride on the Mount Faber Line and Sentosa Line, tickets to the Singapore Cable Car are regularly priced at $35 (RM 116.90) for adults and $25 (RM 83.50) for children between the ages of 4 and 12. They are sold at counters and on the Mount Faber Leisure Group website. Visitors also have the option to top up $10 (RM 33.41) for unlimited rides for one day; children under the age of three rides free.

Over-the-counter purchases of Mount Faber Line cable car tickets and bundles will also include a Pokémon-themed sun visor while supplies last. There are four different patterns for the visors to choose from: Pikachu, Sprigatito, Fuecoco, and Quaxly.
