This is it — the future of sports is already here. Even though they seem at odds, golf and technology are slowly merging and we’re here for it! We recently checked out the newly-opened Wedge — a boutique golf lounge and bar in the heart of Hartamas.
Wedge aims to revolutionise the way people enjoy and participate in virtual sports, particularly golf, by bringing together the worlds of golf, technology, and social interaction. It’s the first location in Malaysia to offer top-notch Full Swing simulators, which can be found in the homes of golfing greats like Jordan Spieth, Jon Rahm, and Tiger Woods.
Golf & entertainment
The necessities of a contemporary entertainment space were carefully considered in the design and fittings of Wedge. The modern indoor facility spans 1,800 square feet and features separate areas for socialising, playing golf, and virtual sports.
You’ll find yourself in all-in-one area welcomes beginning and seasoned golfers, single or in a group, and there’s a lounge with two simulators, a karaoke section, and a free-to-use simulator in the bar area. Wedge offers a wide variety of food and drink all day long, making it the go-to spot to indulge and refuel as you socialise.
Wedge will also feature monthly Social Leagues, ladies’ nights, the little tigers club, pop-up restaurant nights, movie screenings, and private parties too. Talk about fun!
Golf & technology
Wedge’s General Manager and resident PGA Professional, Chris Holden, provides both private and small-group lessons.Its Full Swing simulators, which offer real-time ball tracking and access to more than 45 top-tier courses, in addition to football and other virtual sports makes the experience as real as actually heading to these courses.
What’s really cool is that with the ION3 Overhead Camera recording HD video of your clubhead at contact, the Full Swing simulator can accurately replicate your swing. The ball then passes through four high-speed linescan cameras as it moves towards the screen, capturing it in real-time to produce realistic ball flight like you were on the course.
But the Whole Swing simulators appeal to more than just golfers — they also contain virtual football, rugby, and dodgeball. So, watch this space for more!
