It’s no secret that Selangor is home to a plethora of internationally acclaimed creative talents. In recognition of the importance of creative abilities in creating a better future for society, Tourism Selangor is hosting TUKANG: Design and Craft Festival 2022 at Shah Alam Gallery until 27 November 2022.
The TUKANG Design and Craft Festival 2022 is a free event and open to all. Visitors can immerse themselves in the art and craft world through a series of workshops, seminars, and an art market led by designers and artisans. Crafts by Leon Leong and Hani Ali, Warenakita’s Cherita Ulam, Gwyneth Jong and Maisarah Lubis’s Re: Vision, ‘Mok’ Pod from Gharib+Batiktektura, Ecovs’s Sustainable Innovation Batik Alternative Tool, and Inside RG’s T.I.K.A.R. will all be on display.
By means of a community grant, the festival also draws attention to the work of cutting-edge craftsmen, designers, and artists. Each of the six winning ideas received RM10,000 to put their plans into production, with a three-month deadline.
Other things to look forward to includes catching local arts and indie music bands such as Couple, Acap Loko, Heidi Moru, and Maples, as well as food and coffee vendors, snacks, pastries, and arts and crafts.
And once you’re done getting a dose of Malaysian arts and heritage, pop on by the Shah Alam Gallery and Shah Alam Lake Garden just nearby.
