Airlines are collaborating with fashion designers to bring style and travel together. Recently, Malaysian Airlines’ (MAS) Enrich programme and the Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG) have teamed up with local designers to create a collection of travel styles representing the richness of Malaysian culture and heritage.

Here are some of the collections:

Kapten Batik for Enrich

Travelling is challenging. All of the rushing, sweating, and impatiently waiting can be exhausting. That doesn’t mean we have to compromise our travel style or our comfort. One style that will surely turn heads on your next flight out is Enrich (Malaysia Airlines’ travel and lifestyle rewards programme) and Kapten Batik’s Eco-Friendly Capsule Collection.

It includes six pieces of handcrafted clothing and accessories, including men’s and junior slim-fit shirts, a women’s Egyptian dress, a tote bag, and a face mask that can be worn at any time of day.

The materials used in the collection are created from 100% Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) certified organic Cambric and hand-dyed with natural colours, making it environmentally friendly as well. The classic hand block technique is used to intricately print the modern Enrich x Kapten Batik designs.

The collection may be purchased through the airline’s online store, Temptations, or at Kapten Batik’s Publika store, BSC lifestyle store, The Curve, and Gurney Paragon Mall. The collection continues the ongoing collaboration between Enrich and Kapten Batik, which began with the co-branded face mask in March 2021.

Along with the co-branded products, Kapten Batik offers Enrich members the chance to earn 1 Enrich Point for every RM1 spent. Alternatively, members can exchange 4,000 Enrich Points for an RM50 Enrich x Kapten Batik voucher to spend on their preferred goods.

As an additional perk, Enrich members will receive 10% off their total bill for Enrich Silver/Blue (including Enrich Junior) and 15% off for Enrich Gold/Platinum members.

Kenny Loh Couture for MAG

If you’re looking for something with more culture and tradition, check out the Kenny Loh x MAG Sustainable Tomorrow Kasut Manik (beaded shoes). This gorgeous collection is part of an effort to preserve Peranakan history and heritage while revitalising the local craft scene and its craftsmen.

This collection is a mix of heritage craftsmanship with reused Malaysia Airlines batik kebayas. Each pair of Kenny Loh Couture’s shoes is 100% handcrafted with 2000 beads by local craftsmen.

Each traditional flats are given a modern touch with two-inch block heels in this collaboration, making them ideal for today’s woman. Inspired by traditional Nyonya kuih (sweet Peranakan pastries and deserts), the shoe’s diamond motifs capture the Peranakans’ rich history while maintaining a talent that is fading.

The shoes are available in a range of sizes, from EU 37-41, and come in three lovely colours: Penang Green, Singapore Red, and Melaka Blue. These handcrafted beaded shoes will be sold on Journify, MAG’s travel, lifestyle, and e-commerce website.
