TripAdvisor has again announced winners of its Travellers’ Choice Awards, this time turning their attention to the best islands in Asia.
Last month, the travel planning and booking site announced its Top 25 Destinations in the World for 2016, which was determined by the quantity and quality of reviews left by reviewers, as well as traveller booking interest.
On this year’s Top 10 Islands in Asia list, Indonesian favourites Bali, Lombok and Gili Trawangan, ranked highly with Bali taking the Number 1 spot.
Upon learning their islands’ top rankings, the Ministry of Tourism Republic of Indonesia commented, “Bali, Lombok and Gili Trawangan are the finest examples as of destinations that are not just great to visit, but islands that serve as enchanting sanctuaries that perpetuate harmony between the people, culture and nature of Indonesia. We would like to thank TripAdvisor for this recognition and we look forward to more visitors from around the world coming to explore further the beauty of these islands.”
Thai islands also prove to be popular destination picks for travellers with Phuket, Ko Samui and Koh Tao, tying its number of appearances on the list with Indonesia.
