Avani Book Club taps literary travel and BookTok trends to help guests experience destinations through curated reading.
For years, hotels have competed over infinity pools, rooftop bars, and wellness retreats. Now, a growing number of travellers are turning to novels and memoirs to experience a place. Fuelled by BookTok, Bookstagram, and the growing popularity of literary travel, books are increasingly shaping where people go and how they connect with a destination, providing readers with a window into local culture, history, and everyday life.
Avani’s new book club brings destinations to life
Tapping into this trend, Avani Hotels & Resorts has launched Avani Book Club, a global initiative that invites guests to discover destinations through curated books and reading experiences.
Available across 15 participating hotels and resorts, the programme features destination-inspired reading lists, book corners, book swaps, author events, and relaxed reading spaces. Each property features titles that reflect the local culture, whether it’s Bangkok Wakes to Rain in Thailand’s capital, The Miniaturist in Amsterdam, or You Deserve Good Gelato in Venice.
More than just a book on the bedside
The experience goes beyond the bookshelf. In Bangkok, guests can enjoy Sip the Story, where books about Thailand are paired with themed coffees, matcha, and cocktails. Over in Krabi, a story-inspired afternoon tea lets guests read poolside while taking in the limestone cliffs.
Meanwhile, Avani+ Koh Lanta Krabi Resort lets young guests follow the adventures of the resort’s resident hornbill pair through an illustrated bedtime story and interactive activity booklet designed to introduce children to local wildlife. In Amsterdam, Avani Museum Quarter Amsterdam will celebrate WorldPride with a Book Swap & Reading Night featuring LGBTQ+ stories, poetry, and community conversations.
Other participating hotels will also host book swaps, literary discussions, and community events, bringing together travellers and locals through a shared love of reading.
As Avani expands the idea of what a hotel stay can offer, books become more than reading material — they become a way of travelling deeper, even while staying in place.
