The integral role of women in society is often dismissed. Yet, it is no secret that when women are given education, opportunity, and resources and placed in positions of power, our impact can be profound. At ZafigoX 2024: Rejuvenation Conference, we will be hearing from four women who empower and positively influence communities through social causes.

With over 16 years of experience as a cultural anthropologist and humanitarian professional, Lilianne Fan has spent her life working with refugees, internally displaced persons, and communities affected by conflict and disaster.

She is the International Director and Co-Founder of Geutanyoë Foundation, where she works to provide expertise to institutions such as the UN, the World Bank, and the Red Cross. Her work covers communities in Aceh, Myanmar, Haiti, Syrian refugees in Jordan, and more recently, the stateless Rohingya in Rakhine State and ASEAN.

Come and listen as she speaks more about her work and why caring for your neighbours is important.

After working in the design industry for over 20 years as a graphic designer, a chance discovery on the permaculture site, Embun Pagi, led Low Shao-Lyn to learn all she could about cultivating her own food. As a result, Eats, Shoots & Roots was founded in 2012 to provide urbanites with the skills and tools necessary to grow their own food.
The social enterprise has since built over 100 edible gardens, organised more than 400 gardening workshops, and sold thousands of edible garden products. All this is done to educate and foster healthy perspectives between people and nature through food.

Reconnect with your body, food, and the earth as Low Shao-Lyn speaks about her ventures.

After 23 years in various roles at non-profit organisations, international agencies, and pharmaceutical companies, Sumitra Selvaraj began her work at the Breast Cancer Welfare Association.

This work allows her to support survivors and promote early detection of breast cancer through community outreach. She documents her life on her social platform, sharing thoughts on identity, agency, and self-expression, all while donning the most stunning sarees.

You do not want to miss her speaker’s session at the conference.

Suri Kempe’s work with issues surrounding social justice, gender, and inclusion has moulded her work as a feminist and activist. Suri has worked with the United Nations (UN), governments and civil society in several regions, including South and Southeast Asia, the Horn of Africa, and the MENA region.

Her experience in policy analysis, advocacy strategy, research, training, and evaluation enables her to create impactful changes in social justice and human rights matters.

Don’t miss the chance to meet and learn from someone who knows the backends of making meaningful work possible.
