Cards like Visa, Mastercard, and pre-paid debit cards like Wise or BigPay can be used. However, to avoid any unforeseen issues, reserve the use of cards at more upscale establishments.
Pro-tip 1: If you need to withdraw cash, ensure it’s within local bank outlets. Usually, indoor ATMs have a security guard standing by. Hotel ATMs are also safe, so if you see one, that’s a great place to withdraw cash. Avoid withdrawing large amounts of money at night at an ATM in a secluded or crowded area, too. Remember that there is a surcharge for cash withdrawals at all ATMs in Thailand.
