Being the food-loving Malaysians we are, you’ll find that many Muslims in Malaysia still out and about after performing their nightly Terawih prayers. And it’s usually for a a moreh session.
But what is moreh exactly? For those who are unfamiliar, moreh is a term used for an after-prayers supper, usually during the fasting month. Sometimes it’s done at the mosque itself, and other times, it can be just about anywhere your group favours. So, while buka puasa (or iftar) will see you breaking your fast, most Muslims prefer this to be a light meal as it’s easier on the stomach. Once it settles and you’re done with prayers, it’s time for a proper meal (or second dinner)!

1. Nasi Kandar Pelita
Nasi Kandar Pelita is KL’s largest nasi kandar chain and a local favourite. Malaysia’s favourite drink — the creamy, milky teh tarik — is a must-have for late-night moreh snackers. This warm, soothing drink is a terrific way to end Ramadan each day, and let’s not forget delectable options like mee goreng, nasi kandar, and all sorts of roti available here. 2. McDonald’s

Located next to Nasi Kandar Pelita is the Sembang MaTIC bazaar, an ordinary parking lot transformed into a bustling night scene with plenty of food trucks after sunset, allowing visitors to sample the best of Malaysian cuisine.
Its open space also gives the space a relaxed atmosphere, so walking around at night won’t be an issue. Those looking for a late-night snack can choose from many food trucks selling both Western and local fare.

Previously known as Al Amnah, this legendary hawker stall is now known as Mansion Tea Stall. Located in Masjid India, their crispy, flaky, yet fluffy roti canai has been a crowd favourite for many years; especially when paired with the fragrant curry.
While you’re there, don’t miss out on ordering their famous Teh Tarik Ding Dong, known for its silky texture and the perfect sweetness. Worth giving a go as a moreh spot if you’re looking to carbo-load for the next day.
