The countdown has begun for the Rainforest World Music Festival 2026, set to take place from 26 to 28 June 2026. Held at the Sarawak Cultural Village against the backdrop of Mount Santubong, the festival has grown into one of the country and region’s most recognisable cultural events.

Recently ranked among the world’s top 10 festivals by the Transglobal World Music Chart, it draws thousands of visitors each year seeking a blend of music, nature, and cultural immersion.

A festival that feels like a destination

More than a concert series, the festival has become a compelling reason to visit Sarawak. With over 200 performers from 12 countries expected this year, the event brings global sounds to the rainforest, from traditional rhythms to funk, soul, and contemporary world music.

Headliners already announced include Malaysian icon M. Nasir, legendary funk band The Commodores, and acid-jazz favourites Incognito, with more artists set to be revealed in the coming weeks.

Why people love RWMF

While the evening concerts are the main draw, seasoned festivalgoers often say the daytime experiences are what make the trip unforgettable. More than 50 workshops, mini sessions, and cultural demonstrations will take place across the festival grounds, giving visitors the chance to once again learn directly from musicians, discover traditional instruments, and experience spontaneous cross-cultural collaborations.

This immersive format transforms the festival into a cultural journey rather than a typical music event — one where people can spend the day exploring, learning, and connecting before the main stage comes alive at night.

A celebration of food, culture & sustainability

New for 2026 is a BIMP-EAGA gastronomy showcase spotlighting flavours from Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, and the Philippines. The culinary programme adds another layer to the experience, turning the festival into a celebration of regional heritage through food as well as music.

Sustainability also remains central to the event’s ethos. Initiatives such as Green Ruai and the EcoGreen Planet tree-planting programme aim to reach 10,000 trees planted this year, reinforcing the festival’s long-term commitment to conservation.
