You’re invited to name Penang Bird Park’s animals for its 37th anniversary—a fun way to spark wildlife appreciation and connect Malaysians to conservation efforts.
In honour of Penang Bird Park’s 37th anniversary this 8th August (8.8), they’re celebrating with something a little different and a whole lot of fun. Say hello to the “What’s My Name?” campaign, where the public gets to help name eight of the park’s most lovable animal and bird residents!
From the majestic rhinoceros hornbill to cheeky twin baby marmosets and a mysterious albino crow, the campaign plans to give these unique creatures a little personality boost: a name chosen by their biggest fans—you. This initiative is more than just a naming game; it’s a light-hearted yet meaningful way to encourage wildlife appreciation and conservation.
The process consists of two interactive phases: the Name Suggestion Phase (August 1–14) and the Public Voting Phase (August 15–28).
Here’s how to participate & earn bragging rights
Submit your name ideas based on each animal’s photo and quirky personality descriptions via this online Google Form. Shortlisted names will then be up for voting on the park’s Instagram page. If you’ve ever dreamed of naming a crocodile or giving a baby emu a moniker, now’s your chance!
Winners will receive two complimentary admission tickets to Penang Bird Park and have their name displayed on the animal’s enclosure signage (think: “Named by Aida Tan”), along with a short bio of the animal they helped name.
Here are the animals you’ll help name
- Rhinoceros Hornbill
- Sulphur Crested Cockatoo
- Albino Crow
- A Family of 4 Baby Emus
- Malay Eagle Owl
- Cassowary
- Twin Baby Marmosets

So, go ahead, get creative.
