The 2022 outlook for travel abroad is rosier than ever, especially for Malaysians with the reopening of the border on 1 April. Travel buffs and airlines alike are eager to take advantage of the opportunity following the announcement.
One airline jumping the bandwagon is Qatar Airways. In celebration of the airline’s 25th anniversary in 2022, Qatar Airways has announced a partnership with Malaysian celebrity chef legend, Chef Wan to offer passengers a special menu featuring delectable dishes inspired by the country’s cuisine.
Chef Wan, aka Datuk Redzuawan Ismail, will collaborate with Qatar Airways’ catering crew to create the commemorative dishes. The menus will pay respect to traditional Malaysian cuisine, with foods from Malaysia’s royal legacy featured on the business class menu.
The Chef Wan-Qatar Airways bespoke menu, scheduled to roll out in mid-2022, will be available for a year on the Kuala Lumpur-Doha route in both economy and business class.
Since the start of the COVID-19 epidemic in early 2020, Qatar Airways has been one of the few airlines to remain operational. Since March 2020, Qatar Airways has securely transported over 132,000 passengers in and out of Malaysia. The airline now runs 14 flights per week between Kuala Lumpur and Doha, with twice-daily service.
Qatar Airways, a multi-award-winning airline, was just named ‘Airline of the Year’ at the 2021 World Airline Awards, organised by the international air transport rating organisation Skytrax. It was also voted ‘World’s Best Business Class’, ‘World’s Best Business Class Airline Lounge’, ‘World’s Best Business Class Airline Seat’, ‘World’s Best Business Class Onboard Catering’ and ‘Best Airline in the Middle East’. The airline has won the primary prize for an unprecedented sixth time (2011, 2012, 2015, 2017, 2019 and 2021), cementing its position at the industry’s top.
