MATTA urge for faster vaccination rollout to revive tourism

Pemerkasa Plus has outlined many initiatives that The Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA) hopes will help to sustain the tourism industry and its players; specifically travel and tour operators. Speeding up vaccinations will usher in the reopening of borders, and in turn, contribute to the revival of the tourism sector.

Australia maintains border closure

Australian court upholds its ban on international travel despite increasing pressure from various industries to reopen the country’s borders. Australia is one of the few, if not the only country, that impedes its citizens and permanent residents from leaving. For now, citizens are only allowed to travel in and out of Australia in “exceptional circumstances” and when a “compelling reason” is produced.

Europe reopens for the summer

Thanks to the increase of vaccination rates, some EU countries have reopened for international travel starting this month, with more expected to announce their reopening soon. Recently, Europe recorded a drastic decline in new COVID-19 cases. Colour-coded countries, vaccine certificates, negative test results, or quarantine are the new regulations imposed for regional travel.

Travel for a cause

Stephen Wampler, who suffers from cerebral palsy, first established the Stephen J Wampler Foundation to end the stigma of disability. The foundation has functioned as a camp for disabled children in Northern California, but now, they’re hitting the road. Along with his son and four friends, Wampler is treating disabled children to amazing experiences as they travel cross-country in an RV.
