Flying Tiger Copenhagen’s quirky finds and APOM’s #empatbelas designs make for global and local souvenirs that spark joy and tell stories.
Shopping isn’t just about what you buy; it’s about the stories you take home. This month, two launches are giving Malaysians plenty to talk about. There’s Flying Tiger Copenhagen’s opening at The Gardens Mall, and APOM’s #empatbelas 2025 showcase at MyTOWN, turning local pride into wearable art. Together, they show how design can be both a souvenir and a story.
A playful, affordable Danish brand lands in Kuala Lumpur
Flying Tiger Copenhagen, the Danish lifestyle brand loved for its quirky, playful, and travel-friendly products, has just opened its second Malaysian store. After its debut in Johor Baru earlier this year, the brand now brings its signature sense of fun to Kuala Lumpur with a new outlet at The Gardens Mall. From pocket-sized games to whimsical homeware and creative stationery, Flying Tiger Copenhagen is all about adding joy to the everyday and making souvenirs out of life’s little moments.
Homegrown patterns of pride at #empatbelas 2025
While Flying Tiger Copenhagen brings a splash of Scandinavian charm, homegrown design takes centre stage with APOM’s fifth edition of the #empatbelas campaign. Running now through 16 September at MyTOWN Shopping Centre, the showcase features 14 designers, each representing their home state through bold, original scarf artwork.
This year’s theme, Kita Banyak Pattern, celebrates Malaysia’s rich diversity of dialects, dress, and customs. Beyond scarves, the collection expands to include T-shirts, tote bags, and a new highlight: the scarf bag, a stylish yet functional piece that turns local art into something you can carry anywhere. It’s wearable storytelling—an everyday reminder of home, heritage, and pride.
