Dating should be a fun and enjoyable experience, even if you fall into the aroace (aromantic asexual) spectrum. Still, finding the perfect place for a date isn’t always easy, and the pressure to plan something memorable can feel real. Don’t worry, we’ve got you. From cosy cafes to activity-filled hangouts, here’s a detailed list of date spots in Kuala Lumpur, for every kind of couple.

First date: Getting to know someone on a casual note

Flurrē is a sister cafe to Fluffed focusing on bingsu and beverages. Their bingsu selections are fun and colourful, making it a casual and enjoyable place for a first date.

Fluffed Cafe, on the other hand, serves waffles and cakes. They have three outlets, but the one in Taman Paramount is my personal favourite.

Budget: $$, mid-range
Menu suggestions for Flurrē: Strawberry Trifle, Lucid Dream, Uji Kintoko, Black Sesame, and Sashimi Bingsu

Flurrē by Fluffed: 19, Jalan SS 3/37, Taman Universiti, 47300 Petaling Jaya, Selangor

Accessible by Pasar Seni MRT and located above a tattoo shop, this hidden gem is a perfect spot for couples who enjoy low-lit, artsy, old school vibes. Most of the seats here are floor or low seats, which makes it feel like a welcoming community space.

Filled with vintage items reminiscent of the olden days, the space inspires you to connect through art, drinks, and music. The cafe serves in-house coffee and beverages and turns into a bar named Shuang Xi from 9:00pm onwards.

Stay from late noon till night to make your trip a fulfilling one! Do note that advance booking is required to reserve your spot at Shuang Xi.

Nope, this is not the kind of Aussie-inspired cafe you’re thinking of. This is a one-of-a-kind, mixed rice Malay restaurant, and every plate is at a fixed price of RM7! Have a simple date here with zero pressure—just unlimited food refills. Yes, as long as you can finish what’s on your plate, otherwise, you will be charged double the price for wasted food.

Fancy feasts are nice, but supporting a 14-year-old restaurant that values humanity over mass profit is my kind of date. Not every date needs to be expensive to be memorable.

Budget: $, extremely affordable

Address: 27, Jalan BRP 1/5, Bukit Rahman Putra, 47000 Sungai Buloh, Selangor

Second date: Less conversation, more feels and vibes

This cafe welcomes both you and your cat! It’s a good way to spend time with a date without having to leave your cat at home. The cafe has a lively, natural interior and a black marble bar, while the al-fresco area is nice and sunny. It helps set the tone for a chill date, and (hopefully) your cat is able to relax.

KIS Coffee serves good quality coffee while focusing on making it affordable and simple. They are closed every Wednesday and can generally be a bit busier due to popularity.

Budget: $, affordable but quality, and no extra charge for plant-based milks
Menu suggestions: Classic Café Latte RM9 (option to switch to oat/coconut milk with no extra charge, iced or non-iced), Batch Brew and Matcha RM11

Address: 26, Jalan Selera 1, Taman Bukit Indah, Happy Garden, 58200 Kuala Lumpur

In the middle of Bangsar South lies a cosy Japanese cafe highlighting Yōshoku-style meals and desserts. Yōshoku cuisine is a rare find in Malaysia and this restaurant specialises in these Western-influenced Japanese dishes while also featuring adorable desserts. None of the desserts here feel like an afterthought. They’re an 11/10 in my book.

This is an art hotspot you’ll find many couples frequent. The vivid colours, images, and graphic projections are a good way to experience and discover the deeper, artsy side of you and your date. There’s even Batu Seremban and Congkak (traditional Malaysian games) outside the exhibition you can play with.

At the time of writing, there’s an immersive art exhibition called Into the Frameless that’s showing until 2027. So if static art exhibitions aren’t your thing perhaps this immersive exhibition would be a great alternative.

The Putra Square, Pink Mosque, Iron Mosque, and Putrajaya Lake are all easily connected and within walking distance of each other.

The Pink Mosque showcases the beautiful craftsmanship of Islamic architecture. It features a stunning blend of multiple pink shades of marble, Persian and Islamic-inspired design, and stunning blue glass panel windows in its interior.

A quick five-minutes walk from the Pink Mosque is an underrated spot with far less people—the Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin Mosque. It’s well-known for its steel structure and built, which gave it the nickname of Iron Mosque or Steel Mosque.

After visiting the mosques, rent a bike to explore more of Putrajaya or take part in the variety of water activities at the lake. From kayaking to boat rides, all you have to do is pick one activity to add to your Putrajaya date itinerary.
