Facials are something I’ve never really tried before—in fact, I’ve always avoided them due to the overwhelming variety of packages and the dreaded hard sell. Naturally, I was nervous heading into Bare Skin, located in one of the upstairs lots in TTDI. But as soon as I walked in, I was greeted with a warm smile, and the serene space immediately put me at ease. It felt like a safe haven for someone as anxious as me.
Easy-peasy consultation process
After a short wait, the aesthetician sat with me in one of their cosy corners. She patiently explained the entire process, detailing each treatment so I’d know exactly what I was getting into. I answered a short questionnaire with the aesthetician about my skin concerns and goals. One thing I loved about Bare Skin was its simplicity—just two core services: personalised facials and laser hair removal. No overwhelming options!
I had their personalised facial, which uses AI to scan your skin and provide an in-depth analysis. To my surprise (and slight horror), my skin age came out as 30—9 years older than my actual age. The scan also revealed oiliness in my T-zone, which, as an oily girlie, I already suspected. With the personalised facial, each session consisted of three different treatments you can choose from.
After discussing the findings, we selected three treatments tailored to my skin’s needs, based on the AI’s recommendations. Once ready, I was led into an inviting room and tucked under a soft blanket.
Tip: Avoid wearing heavy make-up and arrive bare-faced. They start the session with a quick but calming face wash.
Facial time!
The first treatment was a pore extraction, as the AI recommended due to my blackheads and whiteheads. It involved a mini vacuum-like tool that extracted impurities from my skin. I even got to see the results—let’s just say they resembled dissolved fish flakes in a tank (not the most appealing visual, I know!). After a quick cleanse, I moved on to the second treatment.
For my second choice, I went with carbon laser treatment, which is ideal for controlling oil and smoothing texture. I had concerns about lasers, but my aesthetician addressed them patiently, even testing the laser on my hand for reassurance. Surprisingly, the pain was tolerable—like a rubber band snap—and the results were worth it. This treatment is perfect for oily skin types, helping to refine pores, smooth fine lines, and reduce wrinkles with minimal downtime.
The final treatment was the oxygen dome paired with an LED light mask. Initially, I didn’t understand how LED lights benefit skin, but my aesthetician explained it beautifully. She used a mix of red (for anti-ageing) and blue (for acne), combined into a purple hue. The oxygen dome simultaneously hydrated my skin, making this an excellent step for post-laser care.
Skin, rejuvenated
The session wrapped up with moisturiser and lip balm. Back in the seating area, another scan revealed that my skin age had dropped by two years, and my overall skin quality had slightly improved—a normal result, as treatments like these often have some downtime and temporary redness.
Overall, this was a wonderful experience. The highlight wasn’t just the treatments but also the serene atmosphere and attentive staff who truly listened to my concerns. I appreciated the lack of a hard sell and left feeling both relaxed and rejuvenated.
