Skydiving is one of those activities that’s high on many people’s list of ‘Things To Do Before You Die’. The idea of throwing yourself off of a plane with nothing but a parachute and a trusted guide is both exhilarating and terrifying at the same time. It also requires a fair bit of planning.

First off, knowing which kind of skydiving you want to learn and take part in is critical. Some types of skydiving included in this list are tandem skydiving, static line jump, accelerated freefall (AFF), and indoor skydiving. And if you’ve had any of these on your mind for some time, these local spots are an excellent place to start.

1. Windlab Indoor Skydiving, Selangor

Easing our way in with a little indoor skydiving is a great way to get over the pre-jump jitters. It is also a great alternative if you would prefer something other than jumping off a plane. Windlab, formerly known as AirRider, is a skydiving simulation wind tunnel offering a similar experience to skydiving without the death-defying fall.

They offer Individual, Group, Pro Flyer, and Return Flyer packages for those who can’t get enough. There is generally no age limit, with flyers as young as three years old allowed in the tunnel. Although if you do have concerns, you can contact the team beforehand.

2. Hawk’s Sports Skydiving Club, Selangor

One of the longest-operating skydiving schools in Malaysia is Hawk’s Sports Skydiving Club. With 30 years of experience, they’re a good pick if you’re looking to skydive for the first time. Their services offer experiences for those looking for a single jump or anyone interested in becoming professional skydivers.

Tandem skydiving is also a great option for a first-time skydiver. A temporary membership and 30-minute safety briefing give you the opportunity to experience free falling from 8500 feet while strapped to a highly trained instructor as you shout, “Geronimo!”

3. Oxbold Skydiving, Perak

Head up to the northern region of Malaysia, and you can skydive with Oxblood Sports, an extreme sports club known for providing opportunities for adrenaline junkies to participate in various extreme sports activities such as motocross, paragliding, windsurfing, kiteboarding, and more.

They have recently begun courses in Static Line Jump, Tandem Skydiving, and soon, Accelerated Freefall (AFF). Details on the different packages are available on their website, which include lessons, accommodation, insurance, medical coverage, and a one-year membership.

The drop zone is located at the Taiping Aerodrome. Static Line Jump will set you back a little over RM3000 and requires you to take a three-day course, and tandem skydiving does not require such training as you will be strapped to a certified instructor.

A 30-minute briefing will take place before the jump, where you will free fall from an altitude of 10,000 to 14,000 feet. It is the ultimate bucket list experience if you are looking to skydive in the country.
