Panel time: 3:20pm to 4pm

We all want to grow and come into ourselves with time. If you’ve been a fervent reader of the Zafigo website, you’ll know we have a heart for travel and how it shapes our lives both personally and artistically. Join Annice Lynn, Nadirah Zakariya, and Red Hong Yi as they discuss how travel creates an avenue for personal growth and expands creativity.

This panel is moderated by Sharmin Parameswaran, an independent art curator active in the visual arts scene for over 12 years. She has worked collaboratively within the art ecosystem on over 45 visual art projects. Don’t miss out on what is sure to be an inspiring conversation to reignite your zest for life once again.

As the first Malaysian female photographer accredited for the Winter Olympic Games, Annice Lyn is more than just your average photographer. Her photojournalistic works have gained her worldwide recognition, using visual storytelling to create impactful imagery while breaking barriers within photography and more.

Internationally published and exhibiting artist Nadirah Zakariya creates works that are inspired by her personal experiences and non-specific geographical upbringing. Exploring profound themes surrounding identity, she uses photography and filmmaking to create striking visual works of art.

No stranger to the Malaysian art scene, Red Hong Yi is an international artist who creates stunning installations using simple everyday objects. Known as the artist who ‘paints without a paintbrush’, she constantly pushes the boundaries of art as we know it.

Panel time: 9:55am to 10:40am

Travel long enough, and you’ll find that the foundations of your favourite stories were built off places found in our real world. There is a reason the most successful storytellers encourage us to step out of our comfort zone often. Good things happen when we are pushed towards the unfamiliar.

Find out what lights the fire in our speaker panel of storytellers, moderated by screenwriter Rafidah Abdullah. As a highly sought-after screenwriter with movies such as Gol & Gincu, Manisnya Cinta Di Cappadocia, and Sa Baik Baju, she knows a thing or two about the power of a creative spark.

Critically acclaimed author Hanna Alkaf is best known for her novel The Weight of Our Sky, which won the Freeman Award for Young Adult/High School Literature. Her love for writing stories for kids and teens led to books like The Girl & The Ghost, Queen Of The Tiles, Hamra & The Jungle Of Memories, amongst others.

You may recognise her book in many Malaysian bookstores—Karina Robles Bahrin’s The Accidental Malay won the Epigram Books Fiction Prize, making her the second Malaysian to receive this prestigious award.

Having 20 years of experience as a creative producer and screenwriter in Southeast Asian media, Yasmin Yaacob has produced regional award-winning shows across multiple television and film genres.

Featuring Lilianne Fan, Shao-Lyn Low & Sumitra Selvaraj
Moderated by Alleena Abdullah

Panel time: 1:55pm to 2:35pm

Get to know the women whose heart for people and a better life led them to build socially conscious communities through business and benevolent efforts. Alleena Abdullah, Founder and Brand & Marketing Lead at Yellow Tree Malaysia sits down with Lilianne Fan, Shao-Lyn Low, and Sumitra Selvaraj in a conversation that is sure to be illuminating and uplifting.

As the Director and Co-Founder of the Geutanyoë Foundation, Lilianne Fan’s work in cultural anthropology and humanitarianism serves to protect and empower vulnerable communities in Asia.

Feeling disconnected from nature while living in the city led Shao-Lyn Low to grow her own food. What began as a need to reconnect with the earth gave birth to Eats, Shoots & Roots, an organisation that encourages urbanites to live sustainably.

Sumitra Selvaraj’s work within the Breast Cancer Welfare Association allows her to advocate for health literacy and equality in healthcare—and she does it while rocking a saree.

Come join us for a memorable day of inspiring speakers, and be prepared to leave with fresh perspectives and a reignited spark within you.
