If you’re short on ideas on what to do this weekend, consider going rollerskating. While, yes, it’s a great way to spend time with friends and family indoors, this weekend is going to be extra special. If you’re in the mood for the nostalgia and joy that rollerskating brings, head over to the Square by Jaya One and experience the first-ever Easter Disco Skate Party — a community skating event that draws inspiration from the ’80s roller disco theme concept on 16 April 2022, 6pm to 11pm.

Party time!

A collaboration between the Square by Jaya One and The Blade School, this Easter Disco-Themed Skate Party celebrates and promotes a skate culture among children, youths, and adults by celebrating an empowering, inclusive, and accessible sport.

A variety of fun games are available for all ages, including an Easter Egg Hunt and Limbo Rock, where participants can win free skates and cash vouchers. Skaters of all abilities will be able to enjoy an ‘egg-citing’ roller disco night at The Square and The School Level 1 with amazing music and a disco theme. To add to the joyful atmosphere, participants are urged to dress in Easter-themed attire.

You can also rest assured that the learning, social interaction, and sense of togetherness will be done while following proper safety measures under the guidelines by the Ministry of Health with social distancing and mandatory wearing of masks. For this reason, the number of participants will be limited in order to avoid overcrowding.

Registration for the Easter Disco Skate Party is free and you can sign up here. Alternatively, visit Jaya One’s website for more information.

There’s more

Aside from the Easter Disco Skate Party, The Square is open to the public every Friday night from 8pm to 11pm for skating. All attendees must bring their own skates and safety gear, as well as pre-register here.

The Square also offers free group bookings of at least 15 people. Groups interested in roller or inline skating can book their spots here.

Following the partnership announcement, The Blade School will begin offering beginner and freestyle skating lessons at The Square on Fridays from 4 to 6pm and 8 to 10pm. Classes can be taken privately or in a group setting. Students can expect to learn the fundamentals of inline skating — such as proper posture, pushing, gliding, regrouping, and stopping on skates, from MYSKATE National Skating Accreditation programme instructors. What fun!
