Even with Malaysia’s international borders reopening soon (1 April to be precise), not everyone’s ready to immediately pack their bags and jet off to Europe. And that’s okay. Plus, you can easily get a taste of Italy right here in the heart of KL — at the Village Grocer in Bangsar Village I!
The Italian Trade Agency (ITA) together with The Food Purveyor (TFP) have launched the ‘Eat Healthy, Taste Italy’ fair, happening now until 20 March 2022.
Foodies can rejoice as the fair will feature over 600 authentic Italian food products available at all TFP’s premium grocery chains such as Village Grocer, Ben’s Independent Grocer (B.I.G), BSC Fine Foods, and Leisure Grocer.
So, if you’re keen to sample and learn about Italian cuisine, then take your pick from biscuits, coffee, olive oil, chocolates, and snack items such as truffles as well as pasta, cheese, sauces, and condiments. There really is a lot!
His Excellency Massimo Rustico, Ambassador of Italy in Malaysia said their goal is to promote Italian food and wine, culture, and biodiversity to the Malaysian markets and raise awareness among Malaysians about genuine Italian products made in Italy.
Suffice to say, those of you who’ve always wanted to learn Italian cooking, you don’t need to go to Italy to learn how to cook Italian food. Every weekend, during the fair period, Village Grocer Bangsar Village, Village Grocer EkoCheras, B.I.G. IPC, B.I.G. Publika, and BSC Fine Foods will be holding cooking demonstrations as part of the event.
ITA is also planning another Italian food festival for November and will feature many restaurants, according to Italian trade commissioner Dr Filippo Fusaro. So watch this space!
In the meantime, visit Village Grocer, B.I.G, and BSC Fine Foods for more information on the Eat Healthy, Taste Italy Fair.
