We knew our very first Trybe by Zafigo event had to be equal parts fun, welcoming, and energising, and it absolutely delivered. Held on 25 May, the event, an introduction to pickleball, saw 40 women coming together to try something new, connect with others, and walk away feeling inspired (and a little sweaty).

The morning kicked off with a calming breathing session guided by Wellness Omakase and The Real Planner founder, Ashley Suelyn, setting the tone and intention for the day. Zafigo’s founder, Marina Mahathir, then gave a warm welcome, officially launching our new community-led series. From there, it was time to learn the ropes with a Pickleball 101 workshop, led by the passionate and ever-encouraging Coach Sandy Lim, who walked everyone through the basics of the sport.

After warming up, things got a little competitive (in the best way possible) during our mini-match-up, where participants put their new skills into action. Whether it was her first rally or a surprise win, the energy on the court was infectious.

We concluded the day with a prize-giving ceremony, where lucky teams walked away with amazing gifts courtesy of BP Healthcare. Everyone also left with a jam-packed goodie bag, thanks to our generous sponsors: LIVLOLA, JOI, Thai Odyssey, and NIVEA. Hydration and gut health were well taken care of by our beverage sponsor, The Tapping Tapir, who kept everyone refreshed with their Gut C prebiotic soda.

The event wasn’t just all about play. Participants also got the chance to chat, relax, and reflect on the experience. And for those who wanted to cool down (literally), participants got an exclusive deal on the Warrior Plunge ice bath—the perfect way to reset after a morning of activity.
