Scanned passport eliminates the need for filling out forms when checking-in.
The low-cost carrier easyJet claims to be the first in Europe to enable passport scans for easier online check-in.Using the camera of a mobile device, users of the (www.easyjet.com/en/mobile) easyJet app simply take a photo of their passport ID page showing their name and details, eliminating the need to fill out a long electronic form before downloading a boarding pass.
Travellers can use the feature to check in easily and securely from a smartphone until two hours before takeoff from 110 European airports.
Passport scanning is the latest new feature introduced by the British budget airline, which recently rolled out a real-time flight information system in partnership with Flightradar24.
United Airlines added a passport-scanning feature to its (www.united.com/web/en-US/content/travel/wireless/)mobile app this summer.
Over 10 million people have downloaded the easyJet mobile app.
